On June 28th2012, Mr. Etienne Schneider, Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade was received for a visit at the headquarters of Jan De Nul Group in Capellen just outside Luxembourg-City.

Jan DeNul Group, a worldwide leader in the dredging industry, set up its Luxembourg branch, Dredging and Maritime Management SA (DMM), in December 1995. Out of the group's 69 ships, 54 today sail under the Luxembourg flag. All over the world, companies of Jan De Nul Group employ more than 6,000 people including 545 engineers. In Luxembourg, the group employs 500 people (400 seafarers and 100 local employees at headquarter offices in Capellen)

Besides the administrative center, the headquarters also host a training center which the minister visited including a first simulator for dredging operators which was recently installed. A second simulator is to follow shortly. As dredging operations require the use of very sophisticated equipment representing a very high value in capital, it is indeed unthinkable to train the crews directly at sea. A prior familiarization using simulators is necessary and this will now as of today be done also in Luxembourg.

Last year, all of the group's masters passed through Luxembourg for a "Captain's Day", a one day training session at the Capellen headquarters.
