HRH the Grand Duke awarded Captain Joël Mathieu, technical advisor at the Luxembourg Maritime Administration with the  “Officier dans l’ordre du Mérite du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg “.

On 15 June 2015, Etienne Schneider, Minister of the Economy, presented the award on the occasion of a small ceremony at the ministry. Minister Schneider noted that Capt. Mathieu was a member of the original team of the Commissariat aux affaires maritimes upon its creation in 1990 and that for 25 years he has served as technical advisor to the administration and that with his maritime know how and expertise he played an important role in the successful development of the Luxembourg maritime register.
